A Love Letter to Art: Introducing Blue House Literary & Blue House Media

I’ve always wanted to do “too many” things, and I’ve been told over and over again that to be successful I needed to focus on one thing; that if I was set on being a Jill of all trades that I’d be a master of none.

But every fiber of who I am is interested in all types of creativity. Yes, I am a writer. Yes, I primarily work in publishing as an editor and book coach. But I am also a painter, a sculptor, a lover of all things pastiche. I love the delicacy of building miniatures, the effervescence of growing and pressing flowers. I love the creativity it requires to structure a business, an idea, an event, a community—a vision. I love loom weaving and sewing and costuming. I love using technology to discover new ways to create multimedia art. I love film, and watercolors, and Micron pens. I love repurposing one thing into another, and in the process creating something entirely new that communicates a feeling like no other thing in existence possibly could. All of this is what it means to be an artist, to me; to pursue a vivacious world colored by my own creativity and gifted outward to anyone who wants to be a part of it. And I’ve refused to sacrifice any of it. I’ve built my career on this sort of multimedia palette, and now it has all culminated into a space where I’m able to invite others to build their visions, too.

Because more times than I can count, art has found me, has discovered me, has unraveled seemingly inextricable thoughts and turned them into something beautiful. Something brazen. Something connected. Art is salvation.

Introducing Blue House Media & Blue House Literary

Blue House Media was born the day Blue Rooms was adapted into a spoken word stage play, and has continued to provide experiences off the page ever since. Our vision is simple yet big: provide authors and artists with the resources, knowledge, and support to create big multimedia experiences that accompany their published books.

Blue House Literary: Reimagining Where Stories Begin and End

Blue House authors are creative thinkers who want to push the boundaries of genre and convention, and whose ultimate focus is social change, critique, and revolution. We are building a community of artists whose ideas transcend the page.

The Web of Time

From dazzling young writer and Blue House Literary’s debut author Flavia Brunetti comes an inventive fantasy that sweeps across time and genres.

Protected by the gods and powering the three Great Portals of Kindness, Art, and Language, the Web of Time rearranges itself as humans change their minds, fall in love, or cause empires to rise and fall. When the Great Portals close from the world, time begins erasing itself, histories start to disappear, Earth falls into chaos, and the gods don’t know how to stop it—until Jack meets Anna.

The Web of Time is on presale now, and Flavia’s very exciting experience, The Great Portals, will be executed through Blue House Media.

Art is the Future

In such harrowing times as the ones we’re living in, we must collectively embrace the creative arts to help us not only process but to help us forge a new way for the future—a path paved in brushstrokes and traversed with openness and a joyful sense of possibility. Where inclusion is fundamental and creativity expands the bounds of what kind of society we’re capable of building. So this is an open call to every artist who wants to look to the future with Blue House. Come imagine with us.

With love and creative writing,

Amanda
